Please Help get the sanctuary through this coming winter !!

Hi, my name is sharon the sheep lady.
I started the sanctuary almost 20 years ago, when I dedicated my life to doing something meaningful and worthwhile. Along the way there have been so many challenges and more highs and lows than I could've ever imagined, but I kept going.
However the last 4 years have tested me a little too much, with not only the strain of the sanctuary but also personal life issues.
Yet im still hanging on as the sanctuary literally is my life and purpose -But I need your support

WINTER HAY APPEAL 2026 ❤️

Today I am launching our Winter Hay Appeal 2026.

As many of you know, our sanctuary is home to almost 300 rescued sheep. Many are elderly, disabled, recovering from illness, or living with lifelong conditions that require ongoing care and support.

While summer may be in full swing, preparations for winter start now. Every year, the challenge of securing enough food, bedding, veterinary care, and support for our animals becomes greater, and this year I am asking for your help.

To get our flock safely through the winter months, we need to raise funds for:

400 bales of hay – approximately £20,000
At the end of this month I have to start to fill the hay sheds as last year all our reserves were depleted even to the point I was buying in 15 bales per week at very inflated prices ( due to the previous years bad hay harvest) i'm hoping this year that the prices will come back down a little and I have even tried to grow one of our fields. I have booked in 250 medium bales from a good supplier who produces an amazing quality hay that all our sheep love, so im starting the fundraiser to try to cover the costs of the first hay delivery (I estimate these bales will be around £30 per bale )

Hard feed – £300 to £500 every week, depending on the needs of the flock

Straw bedding – around 3 bales per week at £35 per bale

Veterinary care and medicines – approximately £5,000 annually, although this can increase depending on the animals’ needs

Farm labour and essential help – approximately £6,000

Every single pound raised will go directly towards caring for the sheep who call this sanctuary home.

Many of these animals arrived here frightened, neglected, injured, unwanted, or facing an uncertain future. Some need daily medication, some require regular veterinary attention, and some simply need a safe place to grow old surrounded by kindness.

The reality of sanctuary life is that the costs never stop, but neither does our commitment to these animals.

When you support this appeal, you’re helping to fill hay racks through the coldest months, provide warm bedding on freezing nights, fund lifesaving veterinary treatment, and ensure that every sheep receives the care they deserve.

I know times are difficult for many people, and I never take your support for granted. Whether you donate £1 or £100, every contribution makes a genuine difference.

If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser. Your share could reach someone who is able to help.

Together, we can make sure that every sheep in our care has a full belly, a warm bed, and the security of knowing they are loved and safe this winter.

Thank you, as always, for standing beside us and supporting our flock.
