My name is April, Gary is my boyfriend. I am sad to share on December 28, 2022, Gary was diagnosed with Metastasis Prostate Cancer found in his lymph nodes in the pelvis region. This day was a game changer in his life, it was hard to hear his doctor say the words “You have cancer then metastasis”. With this new diagnosis, his family and friends are reaching out to raise money for his medical journey.

Gary is an amazing father to his children, grandfather to four, and boyfriend. Gary enjoys spending time with his grandchildren on weekends riding ATVs, riding his 2006 Harley Soft tail, and golfing with his brothers. Gary is 62 years of age and is a very hard worker, employed as a forklift operator/dock worker all his life, quite the handman around my home, and is always lending a hand to others that need help.

If you know Gary, asking for help is not his strength. Unfortunately, this is the life circumstance he is in. Anyone who knows Gary knows that he is very private person. The last thing he would ever want to do is ask for help, especially financially.

We need your help! We are all devastated to learn about Gary’s Cancer let alone metastasis cancer. We ask with humility that if anyone can find it in their heart to donate, please do so. it would be greatly appreciated.

At this point, treatment for Gary is undergoing lengthy radiation treatment including Brachytherapy (Radioactive Seed Implantation Therapy) for Prostate Cancer (then radiation) combined with three hormone therapy medications (daily medication and injections) to block the production of testosterone for at least the next two years at the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center in Harrisburg, PA.

Gary’s insurance does not cover all the cancer treatment expenses and pays only 70% of medical expenses and the costs are substantial. All your financial support will go towards medical expenses, prescriptions, cancer treatments, travel, and lodging. Medical expenses alone will probably exceed 75k but if funds are raised beyond what is necessary, they will be used to help other men battling prostate cancer.

If you have the means and ability, to help lighten the load for Gary, any support would be greatly appreciated. The amount of stress this has put on Gary and his beautiful family enduring all at once is heartbreaking and is something nobody should ever have to go through. This is undoubtedly difficult for him and his family, but we can come together as a community to help ease the stress that this financial burden has caused so that all their energy can be directed to the most important thing--Gary’s health and well-being.
