My name is Morgan and the lady that you see in the picture is my beautiful mother.
Since 2018, we have been on a cancer journey that has not been an easy road. She has persevered through every obstacle thrown her way and is the absolute strongest person I know!
From Breast Cancer, to a Double Mastectomy, to multiple Reconstruction Surgeries. Just when we though we had overcome this awful disease, December of 2022 hit us like a ton of bricks.
After what we thought was a stroke, we found it to be something much worse. The Cancer had spread to her brain in 26 different places. She has been through 2 brain surgeries and many hospital stays to get to where we are now.
On Thursday, May 8th, our world was turned upside down. My mom fell into a full blown Dementia State and ended up falling. Resulting in us being taken to Vanderbilt Trauma Unit, where she stayed for 12 long days. On May 19th she was transferred to Henry County Rehabilitation to start her recovery process.
In the 16 days she has been in Therapy and Rehabilitation, we haven't seen much progress. She is still unable to walk, feed herself, dress herself, or even feed herself anything other than snack foods that we have to put in her hand for her.
Insurance only covers 60 days in rehab and then she has to be moved. I truly want to honor my mothers wishes and bring her home for the rest of her time on this earth. She will be coming home on Hospice but unfortunately they do not provide sitters. They are just here for support and medical needs a few times a week.
So our dilemma is, making sure we have the funds to be able to cover the cost of sitters. Any and everything donated will go towards her daily/monthly costs of living and the sitters needed to keep her safe and healthy. Every dollar and every prayer is greatly appreciated!
