As a volunteer for the Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Bay Area non-profit organization, I've had the pleasure of mentoring a heartwarming, ambitious and creative 14-year-old girl, Sandra. In an effort to further support her bright mind and dreams, I am helping her raise the remaining funds necessary ($1,800) in order for her to join her classmates for an educational adventure of a lifetime to Washington, D.C. and New York City in June. Sandra loves history -- it's one of her favorite classes in school!
Sandra will be part of an organized five-day program where she'll have a hands-on history experience; she'll be visiting sites such as the White House, Lincoln Memorial, Smithsonian Museums, MLK Jr. Memorial, Arlington National Cemetery, Statue of Liberty, National 9/11 Memorial, St. Patrick's Cathedral, and even going to a Broadway Show. She's also looking forward to meeting new and exciting people from across the country, and traveling on her own for the first time, without family.
Please help give Sandra this amazing travel opportunity to expand her horizons, build her curiosity and confidence, and nourish her appetite for learning and growing.
***Please consider donating ANY AMOUNT. Your gift, however large or small, is gratefully received and appreciated....and WILL make a difference. THANK YOU ***
The payment DEADLINE for the program fees is March 20, 2020. The five-day program fees include: airline tickets, hotel accommodations, meals, entry fees, guided tours, ground transportation, and trip chaperones.
In the words of Sandra's favorite musical artist, BILLIE EILISH:
"Time is kind of an amazing thing because you can do so much with it. I think people underestimate time…I don’t want to just sit on my phone for hours."
