In Memory of Erin, our Angel

On Feb.19, 2021, our sweet loving Erin passed away. We are so saddened by her passing and so grateful for her life. We remember her beautiful smile, heartfelt laughter, genuine kindness, big heart, and love; she will live on in our hearts forever.

We are grateful for everyone’s prayers, kind words, and contributions. It means a lot to us, and I know Erin also appreciates the support we are receiving.

We will continue to keep our GoFundMe alive as we navigate the hospital bills as proceeds from this campaign will continue to be used to pay for Erin’s existing medical expenses.

On Sunday, Feb 7th my niece, Erin Caldiero, was involved in a fatal car accident in Mississippi. Her fiance, and the love of her life, Shane Hardy, passed away. Luce, her choc lab, pit mix, who brought so much joy into her life, also crossed over with Shane at 1 am Sunday morning.

Erin survived for ten days at the University Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi, fighting for her life. She was treated for fractures in both legs, pelvis, wrist, ribs, neck, and traumatic brain injury.  She passed on Feb. 19, 2021.

Erin did not have medical insurance and anything you can gift to help fund Erin's medical bills is greatly appreciated.❤

Erin always easily helped others with a full heart and a smile. She was strong, passionate, positive and excited about life. This can be seen in her recent Facebook post this New Year’s Day, January 1, 2021.

“We welcome 2021 with open arms. Life has been exciting and trying over the last year. Somehow through it all we stick together. No matter where WE are WE make it OUR home. Some days are harder than others but the best days are filled with adventure, belly laughs and love. Our boys help get US through everything. I am grateful for 2020 and excited for this year to come. Counting my blessings over here and beyond grateful for my faith.... and the luvs that keep me going.”

Erin’s boys were her dog, Luce, who passed in the accident, and her Maine Coon cat, Jackson, who is alive and with us.

An example of Erin’s big heart is when Shane’s brother-in-law was in Colorado for spinal injury rehab this January. She and Shane immediately traveled to Colorado and stayed for a month, helping with whatever was needed while offering loving support to the family.

Erin lived for most of her life in Sacramento and recently in Estes Park, Colorado. She was fulfilling her dream of getting to know the country, its beautiful nature and the people it holds. Her passion for mother earth and helping those in need led her to Mississippi, which is where this tragic accident happened.

Erin lost her medical insurance Jan. 1, 2021 and the proceeds from this campaign will be used to pay the cost of her medical care. Her extensive medical expenses have not yet been calculated, but they are sure to be costly.

We would like to thank everyone for helping us fund and sharing this campaign with your family and friends.  May the light of Erin's spirit and the joy in her smile live forever!

                      Candle Burns Down

We melt a little each day.

                  The candle burns down.

And it may wonder at times,

                          it may wonder.

             What will become of me?

What will happen to my precious flame?

O, so much brighter, my dear,

You will become, so much brighter.
