Hi! I'm Deanna, a third year Film and Television Production major, and I am currently in pre-production of my junior thesis film, Through the Lens! It's about a lonely and anxious college student who navigates his life through his special sunglasses that help him see his imaginary friend.
This story stems from my own experience and feelings of deep loneliness throughout childhood to the present day. I was always feeling lonely, with or without a group of people around me. I would find myself constantly in my own head, but that's where I began creating stories and art. The most lonely and dark time in my life was when I suddenly moved from New York to California at the end of my high school junior year. I never felt so alone in my life, and that's when I first thought of this story - a lonely (and anxious) student who's only friend was someone he could only see through his sunglasses. I would also sometimes wish to have a friend who would truly understand me; someone perfect.
This film will revolve around the themes of anxiety, loneliness, and depression. It will also go through the process of moving on from grief and learning how to push forward on your own.
To make this film a possibility, it would be appreciated to reach the ideal goal of $1,500 to provide for my cast and crew, props, and food for all days that we will shoot the film. Thanks for reading!
