“Hi Friends and Family,
I put this off longer than I should have, but I witnessed the blessings other friends received by being transparent and vulnerable in their time of need.
For those who do not know, I was diagnosed with Lipedema in 2017 and without intervention, my body is set to move into the 4th stage of the disease within a year.
Since my diagnosis, I have attempted conservative approaches to treating my condition through diet and exercise, but due to the severity of the disease, I am limited to how much I can exert myself. Even short walks in the park with my family cause my heart to race and leave me struggling to breath.
My condition took a turn for the worse when I experienced a heart attack this past October (2024). At that time I was told my heart, liver, kidneys were not in a condition for evasive traditional surgeries to address all of my medical needs.
A neighbor’s friend who shares a similar diagnosis connected me with a doctor who offers a less invasive procedure. This helped her reverse the issues related to Lipedema, and she has now lost over 120lbs alleviating the stress on her vital organs. Since discovering this option to treat lipedima, I have met Dr.McGowin, and I am confident this approach will help me. For the first time, I am at peace about a medical procedure.
Unfortunately, the treatment is not covered by my insurance. I have discussed traditional surgery with my cardiologist, and he stated it is not an option because the condition of my heart and other organs. He supported the less invasive procedure Dr McGowin recommended.
I need your help affording treatment. I am willing but unable to put together $13,000 to pay for the procedure. Yes, I’m being very vulnerable because it is serious. I would also ask to please share my plea for financial assistance because if I am able to follow through with treatment, then the procedure may be life-saving and life-changing for me extending time with my family.
