Hello Friends,
I am asking for help with my good friend Calvin Miruka, who has unfortunately had a stroke at the young age of 28.
I met Calvin ten years ago at Rawai Muay Thai gym in Thailand he had 9 fights at that stage, won all of them and was 18 years old. I got to know Calvin over the next few months and we shared countless good times over the years since then. I consider him a brother today. Calvin is polite, generous, and very humble he spends most of his time when in Thailand training and sleeping but will always stop and talk to those who interact with him and often accept invites to outings with new students who want to meet and learn from him even when he's tired from training. Calvin has kept his illness to himself for months until his sister thought he sounded odd on the phone and visited him at his home in Nairobi.
I recently received a message on Calvin's Facebook from his sister Everlin informing some of his contacts that he has suffered a stroke. I video called him immediately to check if this was true. Her message is in the photos. I have been calling Calvin everyday and he needs to book an MRI as soon as he gets some funds and the doctor has informed him his treatment would cost $20000 all up. A few friends have sent him money to get his power on already. Please help his cause, I guarantee this man will pay the world back in some way.
Here is Calvins explanation to events leading up to the stroke ("The condition started towards the end of last year, had just finished sparring at the gym and came to alot of headaches thought it was dehidration so I took lots of water but the headaches passisted but I just ignored it cos I don't really like taking painkillers. The next morning when I woke up, I was very unesy on my right arm but I wasn't sure what was going on, so I went on wth my daily routine but it just got to a point where my hand was shaking by itself whenever I hold a cup or a glass. When I woke up the next morning my right leg became very stiff but I thought it was from training the previous day, during the course of the day I started having that fear of me going to fall because my leg couldn't move. So the next day I went to the physio explained but he told me that I'll be fine with a few sessions with him, but that was not the case. After like 3 sessions, he advised that I needed to see a neurologist and that's when he knew exactly what was wrong with me. He asked to do mri and mri-v and that's when he said that I need to do a surgery and tod me approximately what it would cost me.) He is still unable to walk properly and is homebound waiting for confidence in his legs, his speach is also slower but his sense of humour is still in tact which is very cool. If you know Calvin feel free to call him on messenger.
