- *THIS IS THE ONLY GoFundMe account for Andrew or Elizabeth Dominguez* Andrew Dominguez, 42 years of age, a life long cardiac patient born with CHD, had his first open heart surgery at 5 months of age to repair coarctation of the aorta. He had more procedures done at 7 and 12 years of age. In July of 2005, he had a large aortic aneurysm, had an aortic graft placed with a mechanical aortic valve. He also had the atrial septal defect repaired. During surgery, his AV node was severed causing complete heart block requiring him to have a permanent pacemaker. In 2016, he had his pacemaker replaced to one that would work better for his heart. After lots of healing and recovery, he became a Registered Respiratory Therapist and wanted to give back to the community and care for those with cardiopulmonary illnesses and continues to do so. On 04/18/2024, he was diagnosed with a very large distal anastomosis aortic pseudoaneurysm. He also has PDA (patent ductus arteriosus) that needs to be repaired. For 3.5 weeks he has gone through scans, many doctor visits with surgeons, and a aortogram. Today on 05/15/24, at his doctor appointment, we discussed his vascular surgeons decision that it is in Andrew’s best interest to go out of state to a cardiothoracic/vascular surgeon who can do a complex surgery like this. We don’t have a date or time set yet because it is out of state. We were told we can be notified at any moment, to catch a flight to the hospital when they are ready for him. We are trying to prepare financially so we can be ready at any moment for flights, travel expenses, hotel costs, medical bills (surgery/hospital costs, treatment), or any other cost that would occur throughout this difficult time in order to care for our family because our employment will be on pause as we will be by his side throughout this entire process.
Andrew is a loving husband, and father of 4 boys, and about to be a first time grandfather in the next couple of weeks.
