Hi everyone,
My name is Yasmin and I have High Functioning Aspergers Syndrome, which is a form of Autism. Living with Aspergers on a daily basis has brought to me the awareness that everyone is different... that's what makes them special and adds taste to the world. If everyone were the same, the world would be bland and uninteresting. Sadly, in todays society, anyone who is different from the rest of humanity is labelled with a type of 'DIS-ability' when in fact they have an 'ABILITY'. An ability to see the world in a whole new way... through their own eyes, not society's.
Through my love of creative writing, storytelling and media studies, my dream is to raise awareness and acceptance for Autism/Aspergers and Special Needs as a whole, so that we can be free to be who we are born to be. I hope to do this by creating my very own first movie with the help of friends and family, aswell as professionals and to bring alternative positive genres to today's movie industry.
Through my movie, my aim is to show people with Special Needs and who are different to the rest of humanity, that being different is not a bad thing... it is wonderful! Through being different, we can change the world into a better place, not by changing people and expecting them to conform to our standards, but by shining a new light on society...being different!
My movie is a voice for Autism/Aspergers, Special Needs and the community. It will also benefit the general public to know how to communicate, engage and understand us and our unique ways.
We need funds for hiring professional camera crew, wardrobe fittings and screening. This initial money will be used to create a professional trailer which will lead on to making the movie. I would greatly appreciate it if you would support me financially in accomplishing my dream and doing my bit to make the world a better place. I would love to get my movie off the ground as soon as possible, by mid-June.
