Please help me travel home to Ghana, so that I can grieve the passing of my beloved father with my family. I am an international doctoral student here in the U.S. My name is Franklin Adorsu. I am the first child (son) of an amazing father who passed away on Wednesday, October 1, 2025. As to why October 1, the first day of the month, I cannot imagine. Perhaps, he might want to make it easy for us to keep the date of the day he had to make the difficult journey with death, a journey I am positive he was not willing to make, because when he eventually shut his eyes and gave up his breath, we saw traces of dried tears run down his face.
My father was diagnosed with throat cancer about three years ago. He had a blockage in his throat preventing air from coming out of the trachea and food from entering the esophagus. As a result of this, he had a tracheostomy, which helped him breathe through the trachea, and a feeding gastronomy that he fed through until his passing. He was strong. Yes! I know he was.
Currently, I am an international student in the United States. I am a first-year doctoral student. I am making efforts to raise some funds to help me travel back home to Ghana to help the family lay him to rest. As his first child and son, I love to be there to show my last honor and respect. I am trying to raise about $3,366.00 for my travel expenses. Despite there are more expenses to help the family with the funeral, I hope God makes provisions in ways best known to Him to help allay the burden, the grief, and the pain.
