Please Help Frankie the Sanibel Stray Cat

Hi everyone,

My name is Audrey. I am a shorebird biologist on Sanibel Island, FL. After Hurricane Ian, we made our best efforts to catch all lost pets on the island, but somewhere along the way, some stray cats survived. In spring of 2024, we received some reports that there were stray cats still on the island. A team of dedicated volunteers got to work humanely trapping these cats and trying to get them veterinary care and fostering them until they could find forever homes.

I fostered one of these cats myself. I nicknamed the cat "Frankie" because of their blue eyes reminding me of Frank Sinatra. At the time, I did not know if they were male or female. Shortly after, Frankie surprised me with a kitten! At this time, I knew I was in over my head so I transferred Frankie and her kitten to a friend who has veterinary experience. Frankie was a young mom and had some trouble properly caring for her kitten. Despite everyone's best efforts, the kitten failed to thrive.

Frankie needs to be spayed and have all of her vaccines. She was born in the wild, and it has taken a considerable amount of time for her to adjust to living indoors. She is still timid but has adjusted to having people and other pets around.

If you are willing to give even a couple of dollars, collectively we can help Frankie get the care she needs before she can be adopted out to her forever home. Anyone who knows me knows I would not normally ask for help with something like this but I am dealing with a health issue and dealing with a lot of medical bills.

There are more cats on Sanibel that need to be trapped and rehomed. The dedicated animal lovers and volunteers of the island will be hard at work. I will share their stories and opportunities to donate in the future. For now, Frankie needs our help to find her happy ending. Please help if you can. All funds will go directly to Frankie's care. Any extra will go directly to the other cats caught on Sanibel Island that need help.
