Hi,

This is Frank's wife Judy. On April 4th Frank was taken into surgery for a 7 disc cervical fusion. He had long awaited this surgery and was looking forward to being pain free. We had the best neurosurgeon, with a great reputation. His surgery was scheduled for 3 hours. After a little over 4 hours the doctor came out and informed me that during surgery, Frank's nerves on the right side of his body had "crashed" during surgery and there was a chance of paralysis. The moved him to ICU , where he spent the next 3 days, he then spent 3 more days in the neuro unit before being moved to a rehabilitation center. He was very fortunate to get feeling back in his leg, but his arm has not had the same luck. He lost all coordination in his right arm and all feeling from his wrist down. With the last week of therapy for 3 to 5 hours a day he has got better control of his arm, but still no feeling in his hand. We are now faced with extensive therapy ahead in which is not all covered by insurance. We have had to make a few modifications at our house and purchase a lot of therapy items. We hope to create a sense of new normalcy over the many months of recovery ahead of us. Frank's spirits are good and he is such a trooper. I have spent 14 hours a day at the hospital for the last 14 days. We are a power team and we will definitely power through our new circumstances. We are extremely grateful he is not in a wheelchair and know we are lucky. In the midst of recovery he was suffering really bad shoulder pain, I ordered an mri and found out he had a severely torn rotator cuff and the tendons coming off of it are shredded. We will be back in surgery in 3 months. Being self employed we do not have retirement and are unsure how we will make this all work. We had to put our pride aside and create this go fund me, in hopes to be able to continue his extensive recovery and prepare for what is to come.
