No pudo trabajar. Me encanta mi trabajo, y quiero volver. No he terminado de vivir.
Francisco Baltazar is 32 years old, full of energy to live, and is now fighting for his life every day. Before becoming ill, he worked in Union for Riverside county. He started as a labor worker and really enjoyed his job. Quickly his superiors noticed he was reliable and responsible. His humble and respectful personality quickly got him into a foreman position. He loved going to work every day and took his job seriously. His crew enjoyed working with him. They all knew the job would get done when Francisco guided them. Unfortunately, in August 2021, Francisco became ill and, in November, tested positive for Covid. In less than a month, he was hospitalized and devastated. Quickly his Lungs began to shut down, and he had to go through painful procedures. He was unable to work. Disability kept him and his family on their feet for months. He overcame lung surgery but then got a heart complication which caused him to struggle to walk. His body began to retain liquid and had to be hospitalized every two weeks so it could be drained. Soon his heart began to fail. He was told he needed a heart transplant as soon as possible. Francisco has many people praying for his health; his wife, three young children, parents, siblings, extended family, and friends who are hoping to see him well soon. Without concrete answers, we all maintain high hopes for his recovery. Francisco continues to be positive humble and keeps fighting for his health to provide for his family. He won't give up, and neither will his family and friends. Fifteen months later, multiple doctors said there was nothing else to do. Finally, our prayers have been answered. Dr. Howie Tran, a surgeon at La Jolla who works once a week at Riverside Loma Linda, met Francisco and asked him, "Why do you want to get better?" Francisco replied, "I have three small children who need me, a wife who loves me, parents, siblings, who support and love me; I can't give up; I need and want to live." I love my job, and I want to go back. I'm not done living. I still have a lot to contribute to this world. I just need a heart, and I will not take it for granted". Dr. Howie replied, "Francisco, I will not let you die." The following week Francisco was transferred to UC San Diego Sulpizio Cardiovascular Center, where he underwent a heart transplant. We, his family and friends, are grateful to God and Dr. Howie, who have given Francisco life again. Two months ago, Francisco's disability expired, leaving him and his family afraid for the coming months. Our family is helping by paying their rent and bills for the next few months but is noticing we will need extra help. I am asking anyone who would like to donate; any amount would be greatly appreciated. Francisco owes Loma Linda Hospital $260,000, rent, insurance, and utilities. Anything will help. Thank you in advance. God bless you.
