Please help Fatimah, single mother of four

Hello, my name is Magdalena, and I have started this fundraiser to help my dear friend Fatimah Bader. Fatimah has been a victim of domestic violence by her husband for the past 4 years. This year, she has finally been able to break free from the chains of abuse. However, becoming a single mother has been challenging and recently overwhelming.

Having no family in the United States, leaving her husband was very difficult. She was brave to accept that she would end up alone because she no longer wanted her and her kids to be in a toxic environment. Fatimah’s husband, however, has not accepted their separation. He has randomly shown up at her house and her anxiety increased when she found five AirTags suspiciously placed under her vehicle. She has requested a protection order from her husband 3 times but was denied each time. She now has to request an order of protection from abuse from the district court and has to hire a lawyer and pay for expenses.

On top of this battle for protection, Fatimah was recently diagnosed with HPV. Her OB/GYN is worried she has stage 4 cervical cancer and will need to undergo a procedure to confirm. If it’s positive, she will need to have a hysterectomy along with other treatments. Without health insurance, Fatimah is worrying financial assistance may not cover all of the medical expenses.

Another challenge Fatimah faces is being wrongfully accused of neglecting her dog, Lilly, whom she had rescued this past summer. While Fatimah was at work, a next-door neighbor spotted Lilly delivering puppies and called Animal Control thinking Lilly and her puppies were being neglected outside. This is untrue because Fatimah has kept Lilly as an outside dog and has been properly feeding her and taking care of her needs. However, the backyard does not have a stable fence and stray dogs have been getting in her yard, one of which impregnated Lilly. Fatimah was unaware that Lilly was pregnant, as she did not show signs of pregnancy and was otherwise a happy dog. Fatimah is now being faced with unfair charges and has to hire another lawyer in her defense.

Just days after this wrongful accusation, Fatimah was involved in a two-car crash on her way to work. A speeding driver ran a red light and hit the front side of Fatimah’s SUV. She was taken to the nearest ER as she suffered a head concussion and other injuries. She is currently fighting with the other driver’s car insurance to help cover medical expenses and personal belongings that were lost.

Fatimah is a non-immigrant student at a local community college and she does cleaning as a side job. Without a major source of income, it's hard to make ends meet and financially cover the kid’s needs, groceries, house rent, and car payments. With these added events she doesn’t know where or how she will be able to afford the new expenses. The financial strain has been leaving her feeling isolated and lost, affecting her mental health and well-being. Despite everything Fatimah is going through, I am amazed at her ability to still love and nurture her children. All of her four kids, Saif, Naya, Adam and Eleena, are very caring and intelligent kids and are the only reason Fatimah continues to fight. I am heartbroken to see my friend struggle and I am trying to help her to the best of my ability, so I am reaching out to others to join me in supporting her.
