Emergency Re-Housing Funds for Single Mom Evicted

Hi, my name is Ashley Napier, and I’m a single mother of an amazing 8 year old son. We are survivors of domestic violence and divorce. We need immediate help with housing expenses! Unfortunately, we have never received child support.

As a single parent, I have endured ongoing financial struggles which became critical in the aftermath of Covid, and years without childcare.  In December 2022 we were completely evicted from the home where we lived since July 2019.

First, I want to say thank you to everyone who has helped get us through until now.
We are so grateful for the funds donated and those funds were used directly for emergency housing costs through December. The shelters have not been an option for us thus far. We need help finding affordable housing and have actively pursued all Columbia options for rental and housing resources and continue to do so.

**We are still without housing at this point in February 2023.
Right now the only housing option for us is through finding best weekly or long term stay rates on AirB&B. Even the cheapest hotel rates cost significantly more than local AirB&B options, which often are greatly discounted and much safer. The funds donated have been an amazing blessing and secured housing through January of  2023.

We currently do not have a place to stay after this Friday February 10th. We are asking for immediate help that will give us a realistic path back to secure housing. I’m now also homeschooling my child, which also demands that we have a safe, secure home.

Going through something like this is terrifying, humbling, confusing, overwhelming, stressful, isolating, and all-consuming! Asking for help publicly is one of the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do.

Immediate needs:
- $400-600 weekly for temporary housing costs (until there are enough funds to secure longer term housing including two months rent, 1-2 months rent as deposit, moving costs, grocery budget which is heavily increased when facing housing instability! You just would never think of how much life changes by simply not having a “kitchen” or place where you consistently live; the hardship imposed under these circumstances are unmanageable. People must have help to get back on solid ground! Right now we need this help!

The 2 storage units are past due for February ; it is imperative these are paid asap before even more late fees are added! ($290 total if paid today 2/7) I MUST have access asap to both storage units as quickly as possible in order to condense and organize only what we can keep into either the small unit temporarily, or Ideally, we would have funds and help securing a suitable rental by March. Even a one bedroom would work for us right now, and moving into our own space will allow the $300 due for storage units to be paid much more appropriately towards monthly rent where we all actually live. This is urgent so we don’t lose everything!

I’m asking for help with this basic critical need: “safe affordable housing”.

If each person that reads this was able to donate $5, our lives would radically change allowing me to quickly regain stability and work towards self-sufficiency and moving forward. Please donate , no amount is too small!! …..
Think of what could happen if everyone who sees our story, was able to share even ONE small gift: $1? 5? ……….Even donating $1 has the power to change our lives dramatically right now and help to rebuild from a solid foundation.

Housing instability is an urgent crisis; millions of families like mine are living through a variation of this nightmare!

Please know how deeply we appreciate these gifts!

Please imagine the power of “giving” rather than “judging”.
I truly believe that God has a plan unfolding and I have faith that He is guiding us through these storms.

The act of giving will make this blessing have a chance to truly change our lives! We are humbled and so grateful for every donation and every share! Thank you so very much for reading, sharing, and for any amount your heart may lead you to give! We are so thankful for all the blessings and prayers that have helped us through this so far! I feel there is a strong calling to be able to truly help others once we have regained stability! I am looking to the future with hope and an abundance of opportunity; I am more than ready to make a difference ! God bless !

During pregnancy I was diagnosed with Stage 1 Melanoma after a biopsy of a small “spot” on my right shoulder blade. Before my son was born, the Cancer was successfully removed with good margins and I was given specific instructions to have full body checks every 6 months. Over the years, I have had several biopsies which were all clear. It has been more than 5 years since I have gone to a dermatologist to be checked. I know this is NOT something I can risk ; I’m praying that I have not waited too long and that asking for assistance toward medical costs that are required to keep the upcoming appointment with the MUSC dermatologist. All of these costs are self pay, which is why I have put this off. This is not something I’m proud of, and certainly can’t continue to “put off”! In addition to the urgent help with housing , the dermatologist appointment will be over $300 as self pay.
