Hi, my name is Sydney and I’m fundraising for my beloved little 5-year old pitbull, Escobar. About 4 months ago on a camping trip, Escobar injured his leg. After months of clear pain and discomfort and the torture of watching him limp and refuse to put weight on his leg, I finally decided to take him into the vet… I feel horrible for having waited so long. He’s such a strong boy and I hoped he would recover. I was also cowardly nervous for what the findings could be… as of yesterday my world has shifted into turmoil as I have learned that Escobar has a torn cruciate ligament in his knee and arthritis has set in. It’s a matter of time before the other leg ruptures, thanks to my disbelief that something could be wrong. I feel horrible. I feel like I’ve failed him… and yet, there’s still something I can do.

I can get him a TPLO (tibial plateau leveling Osteotomy) to correct his knee injury and ensure his ability to walk and live a long, healthy life. I am a doctoral student, working towards my doctorate in chiropractic. My goal is to one day be able to help all kinds of people in many ways… currently, with about a quarter of a million dollars taken out in student loans, I do not have the means to afford this surgery myself.

Escobar came into my life at a point where I was broken. I had to quit one of my three jobs and drop out of some of my undergrad courses to be enrolled into a crucial out patient program for a mental disorder. I got this guy as a baby during my recovery- I had learned what loving, nurturing and loyal partners Pitbulls can be. Escobar has proven to be so much more than this and has saved me every day. He’s not just an emotional support animal but he is my world. I need to give him this surgery to remove his pain and protect him as he always protects me. Please help us!
