Please help our daughter heal and adjust to life with a feeding tube. Our daughter is facing one of the hardest battles of her life right now. After struggling with severe Lupus, that caused Gastroparesis—a condition that prevents the stomach from working properly and makes it extremely difficult to eat or keep food down—Emily recently had to undergo multiple emergency surgeries to have a GJ feeding tube placed so she can receive the nutrition her body needs. While this tube is helping her keep nourished, the process has been incredibly painful and emotionally overwhelming.
This journey has come with unexpected medical expenses, as all of her sterile medical supplies and medical equipment are not covered under her insurance. If you know Emily, you know she is strong, brave, and has been through so much. We are asking for help to cover medical supplies and equipment. One of the biggest immediate needs is to purchase a medical-grade IV pole for home use. Because she is connected to her feeding tube for 24 hours each day, she needs a stable, high-quality pole that can safely glide from carpet to hard floor without tripping or catching. This pole is essential for her safety and basic mobility needs at home.
We are also hosting a fundraising dinner at Joe Shmoe’s in Alamo, where a portion of the proceeds will go directly to Emily to help with her medical supplies and care. Dinner is on April 19, 2026, from 4-8 at Joe Shmoe’s, 7454 N. 6th Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49009. Every donation, big or small, will help lighten the burden and allow her to focus on healing. If you are unable to donate, sharing this page and keeping her in your prayers means just as much to our family. Thank you for surrounding Emily with love, encouragement, and support during this difficult time. With gratitude, Christy, Mike and family.
