Hello everyone, you may not know me or my family or maybe you do, I am Callie, and I'm here asking for help. On July 7 at 1:30 AM, my little cousin Ellie Young got horrifically burnt in a freak camping accident. My aunt Amber then took her to local ER in Madill. There, she was given pain medication every 10 to 15 minutes, while her burns were being treated. She was released about 3 and a half hours after arrival. They went home and went to sleep. Four hours later, my aunt Amber went to go check on her. Just to find that she was not breathing, cold to the touch, starting to turn blue, and had no pulse. My anunt Amber then immediately started CPR and called 911 while waiting on first responders, my grandma and cousin’s boyfriend ( Ellie’s sister boyfriend ) also gave CPR. Once first responders showed up, they did CPR half an hour before the ambulance finally arrived. When the ambulance arrived, my family learned that the ambulance did not have life-saving medication or equipment. They then had to transport her and meet up with another ambulance. Once the other ambulance finally arrived, they took her to Ardmore Hospital. At that hospital, they were able to revive her with Narcan and AED they got her stable and intubated. Then they flew her to children’s hospital in Oklahoma City. After all of the chaos, it was determined that Ellie had hypoxia from aspiration of her own vomit. This was caused by a drug overdose. Madill Hospital had given her 10 full doses of Dilaudid in about a 3 hour period. At the Children’s Hospital in Oklahoma City, it has been a really hard time for my family. They have had to sedate Ellie because while awake, she was not improving or making any progress. She has been fully sedated since 6:30 AM July 11. We are just now starting to see improvement in her lung functions. she has a very long and rough road ahead of her, but we have hope that she will be able to pull through with some time. Now, with all that in mind, our family is not wealthy by a long shot, and this was very unexpected. My aunt had already been off of work since mid-March because of her own health issues. We have no idea how much all of this medical care is going to cost, nor the cost of any future treatment. They don't even have the means to pay all the bills at home right now. We’re not asking for much, so if you could donate a couple of dollars, that would be so much appreciated....a message from my aunt Amber,... please continue to pray for my baby, donate if you can, and share our post and story as much as you can. Thank you all.
