Please Help Doug Start Over.

Hi, My name is Samantha Sonnier and I’m starting a fundraiser for my sweet Father-in-law Doug Sonnier. His home burned down in the early hours (roughly 4am) of Saturday, March 19th (2022).

He, his dog Charlie, and a dear friend who was staying the night, managed to get out through his bedroom window in the nick of time. With just a small cut on his arm from breaking the window, He, Charlie and his friend Tony are all truly lucky and blessed to be alive!

Bet you’re wondering how the fire started. Well, the house itself was very old and had two gas furnaces. One in the living room and one on the other side of the house. At some point Friday evening, The pilot light went out on the furnace that was on the other side of the house, and it was leaking gas. Eventually the gas leak made it to the furnace in the living room (which was right next to Doug‘s room and his guest room) then it exploded and the house caught fire FAST. It was too hot for them to escape through the living room, so that’s when he had the idea to pull his bed away from the window and break it so they could all get out.

I cannot imagine standing there and watching everything I’ve worked so hard for just go up in flames. This is a devastating thing.

Unfortunately he lost absolutely everything that was in the house. And with the lost of everything comes a HUGE financial struggle. He would never ask for help on his own, so I am taking the initiative and asking for your help myself.

You wouldn’t believe the hoops he’s already had to jump through just to get everything in his wallet replaced (License, debit cards, ext.), much less getting his truck keys re-made and having to get another phone… ( and all of it cost an arm and a leg!)

Mr. Doug is a kind, God fearing, man who’s always willing to help a friend or neighbor when he can. Let’s rally to give him the financial help he needs to get through this difficult time.
