Please Help Doobie Walk and Chewy Eat

Hi, my name is Meriah and I really hate having to ask for help, but I’m at a point where I can’t do this alone. My pets are my whole world, and right now both my dog Doobie and my senior cat Chewy need medical care that I just can’t afford on my own.

I’ve had Doobie since she was just 5 weeks old — she’s now 9 years old. She’s been by my side through everything, and I’ve loved caring for her her whole life. Chewy (short for Chewbacca) had a rough start — he was going to be dropped off at a shelter or left outside by his previous owners, and I took him in when he was about 7. He’s now around 14 or 15 years old, and he’s been part of my family ever since.

Early Wednesday morning, July 30, 2025, I let Doobie outside around 1 AM to go potty. I was out there with her when she suddenly got the zoomies — she ran one way, turned back, and when she tried to turn again, she let out the loudest yelp. Since then she hasn’t been able to put weight on her leg. She barely toe-touches and it breaks my heart to see her like this. After weeks of pain meds and antibiotics, it’s clear she tore her ACL. She’s going to need surgery to be able to walk properly again and ACL surgery is one of the most expensive procedures for dogs — around $2,000 or more, not including X-rays and bloodwork. Right now she can’t even walk outside or around the house without slipping, which risks making her leg worse.

On top of this, Chewy has been battling severe dental and mouth issues. He has stopped eating regular food and will only take Tiki Cat liquid meal replacer, which is expensive and not a long-term solution. He needs bloodwork and X-rays to make sure his organs are strong enough for anesthesia so he can get the dental work he needs to eat again.

Earlier this year, my car was totaled, which has already put me in a really hard spot financially and emotionally. With both Doobie and Chewy needing urgent care at the same time, I honestly feel overwhelmed in every way. I’ve been caring for them their entire lives, and I don’t want to let them down now when they need me more than ever. I love them so much — they are my family — and I just want to give them the chance to live healthy and happy lives again.

I’m asking for help to raise $3,000 to cover:

• Bloodwork & X-rays for both Doobie and Chewy

• Doobie’s ACL surgery so she can walk again without pain

• Dental care for Chewy so he can eat normally again

• Food and supplies to help them through recovery
