Hi, my name is Daphne Galimba and my mom suffered the devastating loss of her home, animals and all of her belonging in a house fire on December 22nd, just days before Christmas. At 1:30 in the morning, my mom was asleep, alone in the house (except for her animals) in the back bedroom, unaware of the fire. Her new puppy started barking and woke her up to warn her. When she rose from her bed, she realized the power was out but was still unaware of the fire. Walking down the closed-off hall, she opened the door to heavy smoke and a raging fire. Immediately after opening the hallway door, the roof collapsed onto her and despite being unable to save her animals, she had to get out of the house. She suffered burns to her neck, back, leg, hands and feet. Fortunately, she will heal, however she has lost all belonging and the lives of all of her pets, including the ducks and chickens in their coops outside the home. I can only begin to imagine waking up to a tragedy as such and losing so much. I am forever grateful that she has lived through this ordeal, however, her losses were completely devastating. We know there was a separate gofundme already started and some if not all of you have already donated to that one, but it is my goal to raise money, solely for my mom so that she can begin to replace all that she has lost, and start her life fresh out here in Texas with her family. Nobody deserves to have such a tragedy fall upon them. I love my mom more than words could ever express and want nothing more than to erase this nightmare from her life.
