Please Help Dion Mouse Slater w Expenses & Rehab

Donation protected
On May 12th Dion Mouse Slater-El’s life changed forever. He was involved in a tragic motorcycle accident. A GFM account was started when he was in a coma and suffering from multiple traumas…any one of which could have taken his life. It is a miracle that he is even alive. This new GFM account is a continuation of that effort. He has had nine (9) surgeries and is scheduled for more. We thank you and appeal to you again for financial help as the need continues. Please see the video of the functionality we want to help Dion restore.

Dion still has a long way to go. The healing and rehabilitation of: 1) His amputated left leg; 2) His right knee, which is broken and has torn ligaments; and 3) His right arm which was completely destroyed and is barely functional, are ongoing. Additionally, therapy is required on other injured extremities. All of these together are no small tasks. Not to mention that Dion just finished a very long battle with infections, and for the first time since the accident, he is starting to heal.

As of September 21, Dion is out of the hospital and is taking occupational and physical therapy three times a week to get back to a functioning life. His next surgery is scheduled for Mid-October on his right leg. Afterwards they are estimating that he should be off that leg for about six (6) weeks. With more surgeries to come, his spirit is up and down. The stress of his injuries, not being there to take care of his kids, worrying about how to keep his monthly bills (e.g., rent, food, support for the kids, etc.) paid...is overwhelming. Dion really needs this GoFundMe. The donations collected here will allow him to focus on his rehabilitation. Having this focus will give Dion the best chance of recovering as much of his normal function as possible.

Some of you know Dion as an engineer, an inventor, a mechanic, a motorcyclist, a professional skier, an outdoorsman, or a smooth roller skater. Every now and then he has a glimpse of hope that he will get back to reclaim some aspects of these functions. Already he’s talking about making one-legged products, when he gets rehabilitated. Those who know him…know he always has inventive ideas. Please help us help Dion, aka “Mouse”. Mouse is a giver, and has always dedicated his life to helping others. He doesn’t know any other way to live. Now he needs help, and we appeal to all of you to please help us help him. We know once he is out of the hospital, no matter what shape he will be in, “we will be happy”, because we know the same fun-loving, nurturing, giving, inspiring Dion we know, will return one day. God’s got it and we know it’s gonna be alright…but right now we need your help.

We are asking you to please give out of your heart to help Dion. Even if you have given before, we are urging you to please contribute again. These next couple of months are crucial for his long-term improvement. These donations will assist him with a longer stay at a rehab facility and also facilitate him being able to support his children while he is unable to. We thank you for what you have given thus far, and we prayerfully ask that you please consider helping Dion with this critical need.

Sincerely,
