My name is Michelle, I got my precious little boy, Dexter, as a puppy. He has always been such a loving, funny, cheeky, hyperactive little rascal from the get go. He likes to sing and say hello to absolutely everyone he meets. He used to enjoy walks and sitting in the park watching all the funny critters go by. He has gone from a cheeky little boy who gets all his teddies out and sits with a grin on his face proud of his art work, to virtually paralysed.
After a routine walk up the stairs he slipped and managed to rupture the ligaments in both legs. I had insurance cover for 3000 but as everyone knows the rising costs of vet bills it was never enough. We took him straight to the vets and had him xrayed after that had all cleared. That is when we learned his only real hope of a future is bilateral surgery. They will habe to cut away part of the bone and move the knee and secure with metal plates. Each leg will cost around 5000. After much saving and taking out finance plans i have managed to get the go ahead for the first surgery. It is going to be extremely tight and any extras are not going to be affordable. The second surgery however at present is not achievable. We hope with one surgery it may give him some stability back. But his best chance is to have both done.
What we are asking for is if anyone can spare absolutely anything or even just share Dexters story we would appreciate it so much. I suffer from quite a few medical problems myself and Dexter is my absolute best friend. I was in tears watching his decline and seeing his pain. I want to give him the best possible chance and be able to say yes do the surgery please.
Thank you for your time and when dexter has forgiven be for the ultimate betrayal of an all day vet visit im sure he will be extremely thankful. We know he will never be 100% again but we just want him to be able to walk and live a comfortable happy life again. At present he is having to be confined to one tiny spot and its just not what he was designed to do. He is a full siberian husky so as you can imagine he is full of energy. I understand money is hard for everyone which is why even sharing can help so much :) we ultimately need to raise 5k for the second surgery. Anything towards that lessens the stress and increases his chances. Anything more will still go towards his treatments of pain killers and follow ups. I will upload some videos and photos over the coming days to show how he has grown up and what he is like normally :) thank you so much.
