I’m reaching out to everyone I know today to ask for help for my lovely friend and co-worker Deneen Kerr.

Deneen works with me at Under One Roof. She has provided support and kindness to disadvantaged folks in our community for 7 years, working the overnight shift-the hardest shift of all.

Like many long time Squamish residents, Deneen’s wages haven’t kept pace with the skyrocketing cost of living here, and when she slipped and fell at work she kept on showing up until she could no longer walk. Because she is Deneen, because we needed her, but mostly because she couldn’t afford to take time off. Now she is waiting-for WCB, EI, and surgery with no idea when those will happen.

Please help Deneen avoid eviction and having her car repossessed. Her son lives with her and works full time, but his wages are not enough for them to avoid severe financial hardship.

My hope is that we can all show up for Deneen the way she has shown up for Squamish her whole life and help her get through this!
