Please help Dede raise money to bury his mom in Nigeria

With a heavy heart, I reach out to you today to ask for your support during this incredibly difficult time. My mother, Elizabeth Ogbueze, passed away on Mother’s Day after a courageous battle to recover from recurrent strokes. As I come to terms with the loss of my mom, I am faced with the daunting task of arranging her burial. I am her only child and only relative living in California, so in this moment I am truly in need of support.

She fought hard to recover from three strokes while battling diabetes, arthritis, and early onset dementia. For the past several years, I have been her full time caregiver and we have faced these difficulties side by side. After suffering her first stroke in 2022, she required assistance with daily functions like showering, eating, taking medications, moving in and out of bed, and more. Because she has required such a high level of care the past two years, I have not been able to work full time and save money to prepare for a moment like this.

 I am asking for financial assistance as I aim to honor her final wish to be buried in her home country of Nigeria. It is a tradition in my culture for people from the Igbo tribe to be buried back home, and it would mean the world for me to be able to lay my mom to rest in a way she would truly want. Also because of the ever-rising costs of burial plots and funeral arrangements in the United States, it is more financially feasible to return her body to Nigeria.

Your general contributions will go toward embalming, funeral services, the cost of the plane ticket to return her body back to Nigeria, and outstanding fees due to the mortuary that is facilitating her arrangements.

Every donation, no matter the size, will make a difference in ensuring that Elizabeth’s journey into eternity is marked with the love and respect she deserves. I understand that the goal is quite large, but donations of even $5-$10 dollars will go along way.
