My name is Heather and I am raising funds to help my sister in her battle with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma.
My sister, Deborah has been in Healthcare for nearly 30 years. She is a dedicated EMT and aspiring forensic nurse, who recently received the heartbreaking diagnosis of Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. Deborah has just undergone two back to back abdominal surgeries that has left her out of work for a period of time. As she faces this unexpected health battle, we are coming together to support someone who has spent her life in dedicating her servicing others.
Deborah is a proud mother and spouse, whose world revolves around caring for her family and the community. Despite the challenges ahead, she remains hopeful and determined to keep fighting—for her health, her future, and her family.
For over 17 years, Deborah has volunteered with The Beacon Volunteer Ambulance Corps, holding roles from executive secretary to vice president, second lieutenant, recruitment officer, and public relations coordinator. She’s certified as a NYS Pediatric Emergency Care Coordinator and has trained thousands—from Girl and Boy Scouts to everyday citizens—in life-saving techniques such as bleeding control and Narcan administration. She's a per diem EMT with Empress Ambulance, Vassar College EMS, and most recently joined Marbletown First Aid, all while going back to school full time to pursue her dream of becoming a forensic nurse. Deborah has won numerous first responder of the year awards for going above and beyond her call of duty for her community.
Beyond emergency services, Deborah is a passionate advocate for domestic violence awareness, raising funds and Christmas toys each year for victims and survivors affiliated with Family Services of Dutchess County. She's the heart behind many beloved community events like City of Beacon’s Santa on Main, Community Safety Awareness & Education Day, First Responders Trunk or Treat, and various other parties and celebrations.
With her recent diagnosis, Your support—whether through donations, shares, or kind words—will help with medical expenses and allow her to focus on healing, and remind her that she’s not alone in this fight. It’s our turn to give back to a woman who has given so much.
Let’s stand by Deborah, just as she has always stood by us.
