Update April 23, 2025 ~ It is with a heavy heart to update that Debbie passed away peacefully this morning. Debbie is no longer suffering & is with her family & 3 siblings in Heaven. Debbie said her heart was full. Thank you to those that donated & any additional funds will go to her daughter Bailey, to be used for support & counselling.

Hi, my name is Laurie & I have been a friend of Debbie’s since school. Since Debbie was released from the Port Alberni hospital 3.5 years ago with the diagnosis of cortiobasal degeneration, she has been getting multiple tests done to figure out what’s going on. Fast forward to the end of February she was rushed to the hospital with a mild stroke & broke her hip while in hospital. Debbie was transferred to Victoria to get further testing done as they stated that they didn’t think she had corticobasal or Parkinson’s disease. Last week we found out she actually has Stiff Person Syndrome. Debbie is the only diagnosis on the island.
