David went in for pain in his leg. They took blood etc since he hadn't been in for so long. He ended up in the hospital. His white blood count was double what it should be. His blood sugar was 413 and he was extremely dehydrated among other issues found in the blood test, which they repeated 3 times while he was in urgent care.
Took him to the emergency room per the urgent care doctor for an ultrasound on his leg as well as more tests. He was admitted to the hospital.
So far they have found he has type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis and a blood clot in his leg. The problems just keep showing up. They are still trying to figure out why his white blood count is high.
Most people who know him, know he has anxiety issues so this is huge for him to be dealing with (especially alone) and going forward he will have to use insulin, there is no other option for him.
He needs help to pay the hospital bill which is already a $1400 copay. This amount will sky rocket upon receipt of the hospital bill. I would, of course, help pay this but I am still trying to pay my hospital bills as well as my husbands and we are tapped out.
I am trying to help him by doing this so he will not stress out over the cost of his hospital stay and the cost of his medications going forward. He will have to cover the cost of insulin (and all that goes with that) as well as blood thinners.
He's a great young man and well liked by those who know him. I know during this difficult time, everyone is having problems but please help him so he can get through this without added stress and anxiety.
