Please help David Laney and Family

Hi..my name is Kristy Rohm. David and Angie Laney are my neighbors as well as my friend. David is fighting an aggressive form of cancer that has left him unable to work. He is a truck driver for Estes trucking. His main focus is his family. His wife Angie and his sons Dalton and Drake and their dog Nash. He has always been a hardworking simple family man. No frills...just love and hard work! This is his story:
JULY 13th
Simple kind of man.

There is a certain kind of man. More common than one might think. A kind of man who has a singular focus in life, and all other things fall into its orbit.

Family.

All men have to work. Toil is biblical. But what they toil for is how you measure a man’s character.

He drives trucks for a living. Working man. A cog in the wheel of The Great Machine. Married to his wife of 26 years. Father to three boys turned men, with three strong, country names.

Exciting men might ride motorcycles or fly planes, but happy men have gardens. Happy men hunt and fish and watch football and baseball and have dogs named Nash.

Strong men fight cancer.

53 years old is ancient to a child, but just on the cusp of the best half of his life. The payoff time. Investments paying returns, and not just the financial kind. Family, friends, relationships, life.

53 is also a time that men find out that they have colon cancer. There is no dramatic story here, not that we are used to. No pain and swelling and saying “that’s not right- lets go to the hospital”.

No, it was a routine colonoscopy.

David Laney was undergoing the procedure in early 2021 when he was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer. He underwent all the standard procedures and chemo and treatments and was, for all intents and purposes declared clear by scans at the beginning of 2022.

It was a springtime follow up bloodwork and resulting CT scan that showed that the cancer had returned to several areas in his abdomen.

Two days ago he underwent major surgery. The doctor opened him up, and contemplated closing him back up immediately. What he found was a cancer that was, essentially, everywhere.

Impossible to get it all. As he stood there, at the entrance to an unknown quantity, the God of the universe said to him to have faith. Perform the surgery.

Or this man will not make it another month.

So he did.

So he will.

You will

Until then, as always, welcome this family into yours.

David and his family have gone through a personal hell. And they continue to...
AUGUST 1 Angie's update:
MONDAY after doctor visit update: visit was good, said he was healing really good, all his symptoms are normal as far as still very weak due to the extensive surgery he took out the 45 staples, he doesn't like that he has lost 50lbs so he is going to have his dietitian call us to help with that because he has diarrhea/ bloating/gas alot so he is getting to where he won't eat, next step is chemo again so we are waiting for them to call for appt then another CatScan in 3 months, hopefully chemo can control or get rid of leftover cancer because it was found in 2 lymph nodes that they had biopsies on, he said this cancer is high risk for reoccurring but we are going to stay positiveplease continue to pray for strength, healing and support..his journey is not over, he has a long road ahead of him.

And it continued....

August 8th Angie's update:

Unfortunately I had to take Dave to the ER today because he has been throwing up since Tuesday and can't keep anything down. He had a CTScan while here and it showed the cancer has returned in his abdomen and is pressing on his stomach which is blocking liquids/food so he is getting a NG tube put in to relieve pressure and will stay overnight, our oncologist will come speak with us about what our next step will be, please pray for strength for our family through this and we need all the love and prayers you can giveI Hate Cancer!!!

2 days ago....Angie's update:
Unfortunately we did not get good news from surgeon yesterday, cancer is the devil and has taken over my husbands body, the only thing they can do now is make him comfortable until this mean disease takes him from us...they are going to perform surgery this week..hopefully Monday/Tuesday to reroute bottom of Dave's stomach around cancer mass so he can eat/drink..they will not remove all the cancer again, they said its useless because it will continue to come back more aggressive and faster.. He has Stage 4 & very aggressive, the plan is to make him as comfortable as possible, he could try chemo to extend life but he may not enjoy the rest of life doing the chemo because of the bad side effects of it..it's his choice, at this point we are buying time, after surgery he has to heal again which would be another 6-8weeks before he can even start the chemo..we have seen how fast cancer has taken over the last 8 weeks..add another 8 weeks to that for the cancer to spread..not good..we may have a few weeks or a few months that's in God's hands now, doctor said try to enjoy "the rest" of his life..don't mourn it, our hearts are completely broken! Please pray for strength for Dave and our family, pray for God not to make him suffer and hurt and pray for my strength and to be strong for the boys this is really breaking my heart.. I am losing my soul mate & best friend, how will I cope? The boys are loosing their father...This cant be happening...this is not easy at all so please pray for us we need all the love and support yall can give us, if your my son's friends please be there for them, text them and be there if they need someone to talk to..if your Dave's friend please message him your love and support and he reads these comments as well, thank you all for your continued support

This family is suffering...they need our help...please donate what you can. No matter how large or small...it doesn't matter. I will update as I can.
