Please help David and Zina Green

On Thursday, October 28, 2021, David Green, (Zina Osment Green's husband) suffered from stroke-like symptoms requiring him to seek emergency treatment at a local ED/ER in Lake Charles, LA. After initial treatment, it was determined that he needed to be transferred via med flight to a larger hospital in Houston, TX for more specific care. He is currently in Neuro ICU at Baylor St Luke’s. Although a stroke has been ruled out, David suffers from what doctors believe to be “Smart Syndrome” which creates stroke like seizures. The journey ahead is going to be lengthy and require extensive medical treatment in Houston. Zina will need a place to stay to be near David. Although David has health insurance, the medical bills, along with the med flight bill, will add up very quickly. Not only will the medical bills add up quickly, but David is also the sole provider for the family’s income, and will not be able to work for an indefinite period of time.

This is not the Greens' first journey with medical issues. Zina suffers from aggressive rheumatoid arthritis diagnosed in the prime of her life, and had to retire from teaching years ago. Sam, their middle child, was diagnosed with neuroblastoma at 8 months of age. Not long after Sam’s battle, David was diagnosed with a glioblastoma stage 4. Most people do not live past 3 years after this diagnosis. Not only did David survive, but also during his extensive treatment, he studied and passed the Bar Exam to become a lawyer. In 2012, David began to have stroke like seizures and has been hospitalized a few times for that. Zina has had a few major surgeries to replace wrists, insert metal plates, etc. Unfortunately, last year David was diagnosed with another form of cancer—squamous cell carcinoma of the tonsil/neck. He took up the fight and beat cancer once again going through radiation and chemotherapy! Through it all, David has continued to work and provide for his family. They are still currently paying medical bills from previous illnesses, surgeries, and hospital stays. In the midst of all of this, their house has been damaged 2 times by 2 different hurricanes. When they were faced with a battle, they just did what had to be done to get through it and never complained nor asked for help. Please consider giving—no amount is too small! We understand that our goal is high, but please understand that this amount is probably minimal to what they will actually unfortunately incur.
