You may have seen this in the news. Recently our mate, Darren Rout, affectionately known to us as Hippy, was viciously assaulted in a Melbourne pub by a cowardly stranger.

Darren is visually impaired and uses a cane for mobility, has a prosthetic eye and wears prescription glasses. The attacker pulled off his glasses and punched him 12 times in the eye, causing the prosthetic to fall out. He also suffered servers bruising (so painful he can not reinsert the eye) and a fractured nose. Who knows how much the trauma has affected him in other ways.

Darren is now having to come up with funding a new prosthetic eye, and new glasses as well as other medical costs associated with this traumatic attack. As a pensioner this is a difficult cost and one for which he has not budgeted.
