Hi everyone, my name is Denise and I am the big big sister & Aunty to Danielle & family to who this story is about. As I have sleepless nights worrying about my family I live so far from in Western Australia.
I am sorry we’ve had to do this & ask but DAY 3 has really hit my sister and reality has struck & my family are very loss at the moment. If anyone who knows my sister knows her personally knows that she don’t like asking for help but after the devastation caused recently my family have been affected by the South East QLD (Brisbane) 2022 Floods.
My family have been left homeless because of it and aren’t getting much help from their Realestate. With know support moving forward the house has been deemed unliveable and they have been told to look elsewhere for housing. No offer to home them in any other property or give them a temporary accommodation.
Emergency housing hasn't gotten back to them at all. Knowing that they have alot of other families in the same situation we need support in getting a home secured fast to put a roof over their heads.
On Sunday morning 27th of February they weren’t warned about any flood warnings affecting their area & only receiving a text message from the Moreton Bay Regional Council on Saturday morning advising residents of the locally intensive rainfall likely to continue until Sunday and that residents are urged to remain at home & stay off the roads until storms pass. (They have been 4 years in this same home & it's never happened before)
So they stayed inside as they thought that was the safest thing to do, but as they were sitting outside Sunday watching the floods rise rapidly my family acted quickly & in panic managed to pack quickly what they could. Instead of them worrying about the front, what they didn’t realise that the floods were about to hit them from the backyard and arisen rapidly through their home.
With the quick reaction & first instincts, they grabbed my baby niece & nephews and ran into the front to get out safely over the Ute with the children.
My heart aches for my babies who are very scared to go back there, thinking they have to re live that again and not fully understanding what happened to their home in minutes. As they got off of the Ute it got washed away in the torrent and is currently still sitting in the bushes out front of our house and over the brick wall. This is my brothers only way to get to and from work to make an income for his family.
My sisters family home is gone they have lost a lot & house hold items were damaged. She has 3 children & take care of my teenage siblings and babies & all 5 of them have lost their school clothes, bags & shoes. They have been staying at the Evacuation Centre since Sunday & not knowing where to go or house their family, I am asking anyone who can help with a donation small or big during their unexpected hardship right now, anything to help get them back on their feet so they can start replacing things they have lost due to the floods.
It's been emotionally draining for them not to be able to live in the house that once was there home & not sure what to expect in the coming days or weeks. This money will go towards finding a new home and getting the essential items to have in a fully functioning home. Help return kids back to their normal routine & provide them with a safe & stable living environment
I would like to send my appreciation and thanking the volunteers for all there support & thankful to them all at the centre at the RLS. Unfortunately this isn't long term stable accommodation. I know that they appreciate it so much from the bottom of our families hearts Danielle, Laylah, Deshawn, Jamar, Makailee and Freddie
