Please Help Courtenay Get Life-Saving Surgery!

Our beautiful Courtenay has been battling illness for the past 9 years. Meaning that all of her twenties have been spent in and out of hospital, surgeries and clinics with a lot of uncertainties.
Having been given very positive and hopeful results last year, she has now been told that she has cancerous cells spread through the oesophagus and stomach. She has had increasing trouble being able to get food and liquid through her oesophagus resulting in malabsorption and decreasing kidney function.
There is only one treatment option: Surgery! It will stop these cells spreading any further than the oesophagus and stomach. Oesophageal statistics aren’t great, if the cells spread beyond these two organs COURTENAY HAS ONLY A 5% CHANCE OF LIVING FOR 5 YEARS, with maximum of 1 year before a permanent feeding tube, oxygen and dialysis are needed.
The surgery to stop this spread is an esophagogastrectomy, which involves a resection of the diseased organs.
This surgery costs $90,000.
Courtenay and her family have managed to get nearly two thirds of the way there but with all they have already gone through and the insurance company ever changing what they will and won’t cover, we HAVE to help them to reach the remaining costs.
Courtenay is 29 years old, her 30th birthday is in June. She was told by an oncologist, it was unlikely she would reach that milestone Birthday.
While we absolutely appreciate the current climate is difficult for all families, in a couple of months we will most likely come out of it and our lives will go back to normal. Courtenay and her family’s lives won’t go back to normal.
Courtenay has always selflessly given so much to others. She’s always there for a chat, to babysit, housesit, cook, give the gift of a smile or a helping hand in any way she can. Regularly raising funds and awareness in charity events like the HBF Run for a Reason, March Charge, NF Undie Run and Black Dog Ride to name a few. She’s done work for the Cancer Council Australia and participated in Mental Health Australia programs speaking from personal experience and trying to help others struggling with their mental health on top of all that she has been through. Working towards obtaining her PT qualification, again, to help others achieve their health and well-being goals.
Please help us to help her! Every little bit helps! Nay is already doing the hard work to try and show those doctors they are wrong. She WILL see her 30th Birthday and surpass it! The least we can do is donate that bit of money to help get her there and beyond. If you could donate the cost of the breakfast you can't go out and have at the moment, a gym class that isn’t allowed to run, the price of those couple of coffees you would otherwise enjoy or that round of drinks you’d shout at the pub it would make a huge difference. It would be the best 30th birthday present she could ever receive.
When I told Courtenay I wanted to set up this page, her words were: “asking for hard earned and otherwise needed money off genuinely gorgeous people when there are a lot of other people in greater hardship, makes me feel like a criminal.” Even in her time of need, her sole focus is everyone else...
Thank you in advance for visiting this page. Between us all, we can do amazing things for this amazing human being!!!
