Please Help Clover Walk Again!!
We hate asking for help from anyone but we are desperate.
Yesterday, out of the blue while we were walking, Clover pulled back on the leash and her body twisted to one side. All of a sudden she couldn’t move.
We took her to VEG thinking it was a pinched nerve but they said she needed an neurologist immediately, so off to AMC (Animal Medical Center) in Manhattan. They’re not sure what’s wrong yet. Their neurology team believes it’s muscle mitosis which has a good long outcome and has to be treated with heavy IV steroids.
Today, they are doing an EMG of her muscles and muscle biopsies, waiting on bloodwork and giving her antibiotics and muscle relaxers.
We have a basic policy with Nationwide that covers almost none of this. They refused to upgrade her from the puppy policy she was on because of a tiny growth on her foot last year. So, out of our first $3500 (discounted!) bill just to have her in the ICU for 72 hours, they cover $75.00. The biopsies and EMG add an additional $2000 to the bill.
This comes the SAME DAY we paid out of pocket for a $3000 patella/ACL surgery for our other dog, Callie, that isn’t covered in her first year of insurance, but we’d saved for.
If you know me at all, you know I love all my dogs. But Clover is my right-hand companion. I live and breathe for her. We run together every day and sleep together every night. Please help me help her. She’s such a beautiful soul and she brings so much joy to our family. Our kids adore her, our other dogs love her and she loves everyone. She’s never met a stranger.
More than anything, Clover just loves life. She wants to go everywhere and see the world. Please help us in whatever way you can - donating, sharing, and praying. We will be forever grateful.
