Hi my name is Natalie, and I am fundraising for my best friends husband, Chris.
Chris is a kind, loving husband and father. He started feeling run down and fatigued. He was getting easily winded, which was abnormal for him. He knew something wasn't right. His doctor ran blood tests, and he was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in December 2023. Multiple myeloma is a rare cancer that affects the blood and bones.
He is undergoing weekly chemotherapy treatments and, in a few months, will have to undergo a stem cell transplant and will be admitted to the hospital for 4 straight weeks. The hospital is 1 hour away from his home that he shares with his wife Erin and his beautiful daughters.
A cancer diagnosis turns your world upside down. He and Erin are doing everything they can to get through this very difficult time. They are using most of their vacation time at this point and, unfortunately, might exhaust it all, resulting in unpaid time off. Since it is still early in Chris' diagnosis, they will surely need more time off from work, especially during the stem cell transplant. Any support you can give them will be greatly appreciated.
It is unknown how Chris contracted this disease, but it is speculated that he was exposed to chemicals while serving his 4 year term in the Army in Iraq. This cancer usually affects those who are older, so it is scary and shocking that he is experiencing this at the age of 36.
Chris, his wife, and 4 children are adjusting to the whirlwind of changes in their life and staying strong, but there are many unknowns and circumstances that are affecting them. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers as they continue to navigate these challenges with hope and positivity.
