Hi everyone! I decided to come back to Tanzania this summer because I loved my experience that I had here last year. I am volunteering with children with disabilities again, and I’m so excited to see what my experience this summer will bring! During my three weeks here, I plan to hike a portion of Mount Kilimanjaro. It has been one of my lifelong goals to do this hike. I only did a day hike there last year, and it left me wanting to do more. My goal for the proceeds raised by this fundraiser is for a portion to go towards sponsoring my hike and the rest to go towards the needs of the center, for things like food, educational toys, diapers, etc.

A little bit about this very special center: Yuster and her husband are two of the most kindest, most giving people I have ever met. Yuster learned a while ago that children with disabilities were being hidden by single mothers, who found that their children were more of a hindrance than a blessing. Yuster and her family are the only people that they know of in their country who have created a safe space for children with disabilities. Four days out of the week, Yuster personally picks up these children from their homes and takes them to a center that she founded in the local town, where she provides them with educational materials, a safe place to play and thrive, along with two meals a day. On Fridays, Yuster visits these families in their homes and brings them necessities such as diapers and clothes.

My experience here last year had such a profound effect on me, that I was itching to come back. These kids are so precious, and hold a special place in my heart. Please consider giving to this very special center.
