Please help care for Casper this Christmas.

Donation protected
When I woke up and called to Casper, he didn’t move. I said his name again. Nothing. “That’s it,” I thought. “He’s dead.”

I rushed him to the emergency. They said it could cost anywhere from $2,700-$3,500 to perform tests and medicate Casper. Although I couldn’t afford that, Casper needed my help.

Now I’m coming to you to ask for your help. Please, can you help care for Casper this Christmas?

A donation of $20, $30, or a very generous $50 will go a long way to pay for his vet expenses.

Casper and I met on the streets. He came up to me, insisting on getting into my car. He was so sweet, really keen for pets. His tiny body was carrying a heavy tummy, which looked very odd. Upon a closer look, it was clear that he had a massive hernia.

That was about a couple of weeks ago. And I’ve been working hard since then to rescue Casper from the streets. I was preparing him for a life indoors. As someone’s beloved pet.

This past Monday, Casper had his desex surgery. On the operating table, the vet team decided to also address his hernia issue, which wasn’t the plan, but at least it’s all done.

All seemed well, so I took Casper home on the same day to foster him. I was very excited. Finally, his days on the streets are over.

He was lethargic initially, which was to be expected. Slowly, his sweetness started to shine through. He is so mild mannered, so affectionate, and tiny!

He had no issues being dressed up in a onesie (I wanted to give him a break from the E collar), and he quickly cuddled up with me and my partner. Like he’s always lived there.

I let myself think that Casper is well on his way to a life lived happily ever after…I had no reason not to.

But yesterday was a horrible reality check. Casper still isn’t out of the woods.

When he didn’t respond to me calling him, I quickly jumped up to check on him. I feared for the worst. “He’s dead,” I thought. But those beautiful eyes were open and moving. I could finally breathe!

His eyes were moving, but the rest of his body stayed still. And had his pee all over his fur.

Something was terribly wrong with Casper.

I rushed him to the emergency. They said they had to keep him until he is stable, which could cost $2,700-$3,500. I didn’t, and still don’t, have that kind of money, especially not after his hernia surgery. But I also was not going to let money decide whether Casper was going to live or die.

He had a heart murmur. Had gastroenteritis. Reading between the lines, I felt that he shouldn’t have received the hernia surgery this past Monday. When they called the clinic that did his desex and hernia, they had no record of Casper.

Casper was stable enough to come home yesterday afternoon.

But the practical truth is it cost $2,800 to get him stable. And I need your help.

Will you consider donating $20, $30, or $50 today to help share Casper’s emergency vet expenses?

Please help care for him with a kind donation today.

Casper will have further expenses in the future to treat or manage his heart murmur, so anything you can donate will help give him a better future, too.

He will stay with me, my partner, and our two cats Leon and Luna, until he’s all better. However long that may take.

Thank you so much for your kindness.

Sincerely,
Leticia
Casper’s rescuer and foster carer
