Please help us give our brother a proper burial

To our family, friends, and all others,

 

It is with great sadness I share with you, my brother, Mark N. Smith, passed away Saturday, January 15, 2022, at the young age of 48. I am starting this fundraiser to help cover the costs of his services.

 

Mark had been battling congestive heart failure for a few years. He was in and out of doctor offices only to be continually denied for SSI & SSD benefits, for the "lack of medical proof". Sadly, another victim of the system.

 

Friday night Mark went to the emergency room in Pemberton, NJ complaining of shortness of breath, trouble breathing, and lack of energy. After confirming a negative result for Covid, he was given an Albuterol inhaler and sent home.

 

Mark woke up Saturday and used the inhaler. Within 30 minutes, his heart started pounding, and he was struggling to breathe. Lacking the energy to walk to the car, his best friend called an ambulance. The hospital was able to revive Mark once, but he crashed a second time, and that's when we lost him.

 

To say my family was not prepared to handle his passing is an understatement. Mark was larger than life, people were drawn to him; he was a fun-loving, caring man who had the wonderful talent to make everyone he encountered smile. The world was a much better place with him in it.

 

We now must work diligently to find the funds to bury our brother in Morgan Cemetery, where our Mother was laid to rest. If you can find it in your heart to help us, my family would truly be thankful. We will post updates on services as they are planned.
