Please can you help 16 year old Brooklyn Mathis as she takes on an aggressive blood cancer.
Brooklyn is sweet 16. Instead of enjoying normal activities which a 16 year old girl enjoys, this lovely young lady has the fight of her life ahead of her. She was just diagnosed last week with B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia. This aggressive type of leukemia requires a wide range of invasive treatment. She is currently in John Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida and will be there for, at least, the next thirty days. Monday, Dec 13th, Brooklyn had a central venous port placed, a spinal tap, a bone marrow draw and this is just the beginning. Chemotherapy, radiation, as well as blood and bone marrow transfusions are in the future for Brooklyn. Her parents Bianca and Bryan are by her side and will not leave her. Her brothers Bryce and Brayden are also with her.
This family is a close knit, Christian family who live in Lakewood Ranch, Florida. Brooklyn was born in Katy, TX and is a student at Lakewood Ranch High School. She enjoys soccer, dirt biking, ice skating and being around her friends. She is kind, polite, selfless and is a hard worker. This experience has already motivated her to become a nurse. Bryan is an Army Veteran having served our Country in Desert Storm from 1991-1994 out of Ft. Bragg NC. 35th Sig Battalion Airborne. He is the type of man who would give you the coat off his back! Bryan works as a general manager of an outdoor lighting company. He will not be able to work while he supports his daughter in the hospital. Bianca, who received her BA in Interior Design from Sacramento State, CA, worked for twenty years in the commercial furniture industry and will also be at Brooklyn’s side as she fights this unfair and complicated battle.
Bryan and Bianca need so much help as they concentrate on doing everything to help save their only daughter. This family is still in shock and desperately need support. As we approach this Season of Giving, please help by making a generous monetary contribution. Please also keep them in your prayers. Like Bryan, who served this Country in battle, now Brooklyn takes on her own battle. Although she does not wear a military uniform like Dad, Brooklyn will earn her stripes through her inner strength, faith and with support from all those willing to help.
We will strive to give frequent updates on Brooklyn.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
