Please Help Britt on her Road to Recovery

Brittany Busby was involved in a horrific car accident Sunday, July 18, 2021 at 1am on the 210 Freeway ending at the Buena Vista off ramp/embankment in Duarte, CA. Her vehicle was side swiped by another car and as she tried to avoid further collision by swerving away from the car, she hit the center divider and lost control of her SUV and spun across the entire freeway and flipped into an embankment. Her vehicle was totaled, all air bags were deployed, and she had to be cut from the vehicle.

Brittany’s life was spared that day thanks to God, the first responders, and the bystanders who stayed with her and phoned her mother. Unfortunately, Brittany suffered trauma to her abdomen, legs, arms, fractures to her lumbar, a deep groin laceration, and an abdominal tear from her ribs to her lower abdomen. She’s had emergency surgery to repair her deep laceration from the seatbelt, and traumatic abdominal hernia repair. She was mostly confined to her bed and walker at the time. We look forward to her journey on her road to recovery.

She is now in her second round of physical therapy. Her physical therapist was able to assist her with her walking, and remedy some of her pain. However, this has been an extremely tough journey for Brittany and myself, her mother, Cynthia. We were both laid off due to the pandemic and Brittany requires more physical therapy and tests. My heart breaks every day I saw Brittany in this condition, and I tried to split my time with Brittany while also working my evening job to afford our living expenses. Her medical insurance has been amazing to us, however there is a gap of fees not covered as well as additional living expenses due to our new norm. Also, it has been extremely challenging transporting Brittany to medical appointments in my vehicle due to her post traumatic stress from her accident.

We are extremely grateful that Brittany survived this near fatal accident and would like to also thank our friends and families that have assisted us in finding Brittany, keeping her company, showering her with love and gifts, and for thoughts and prayers.
