With heavy hearts, we are asking for your support after the unexpected passing of our beloved brother, Gustavo Escalera Bellos, while in Japan.

Our family is now facing the heartbreaking task of bringing Gustavo home from Japan to Arizona. The cost of bringing him home, along with his funeral and final arrangements, is more than our family can manage alone. We truly need the support of others to make it possible to bring him home and give him the farewell he deserves.

Gustavo was an amazing father, a devoted son, a loving brother, and a loyal friend. Family meant so much to him, and he always made sure his mother was taken care of and had everything she needed.

Gustavo also proudly and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army National Guard as an Infantryman. During his nearly nine years of service, he received multiple military honors and formed lifelong bonds with the brothers and sisters he served alongside—people who became another family to him. Gustavo had a generous heart and was the kind of person who would give the shirt off his back to help someone in need.

And if you knew Gustavo, you knew how much he loved to laugh. He was known for his jokes, his sense of humor, and for being the life of the party. He could be professional and firm when he needed to be, but he was also outgoing, easygoing, and knew how to make the people around him feel welcome and have a good time.

We never imagined having to ask for this kind of help, but we cannot do this alone.
