My name is Tara McGregor, and I am Greyson Farr’s auntie. Greyson is a 15-year-old who is facing a health crisis that no one should ever have to endure. He is a very active, full-of-life boy. He enjoys golfing, working out, listening to music, playing video games and spending time with his friends and family. Greyson is the life of the party, he just makes our lives better. To know Grey is to love Grey.
On Friday Nov 28th, (the day after a normal happy Thanksgiving spent with family) my sister and brother in law were alerted to my nephews room by loud kicks to the wall. Upon entering his room they found him unable to move his arms with his left side of his face numb, drooping and unable to speak, they quickly dialed 911 and he was rushed by ambulance to Troy Beaumont. Prior to being life flighted to U of M pediatric ICU, Troy Beaumont preformed an emergent CT scan and put him on a ventilator and a medical induced coma. Upon arrival to U of M via helicopter, he was hooked up to so many machines, IV’s and around the clock monitoring. The ventilator was removed as he became more stable which was a blessing. They took him to get an MRI of brain and spine. Greyson has since been hooked up to an EEG to monitor his brain activity. He has had ultrasounds of his heart, legs and arms. He has been treated by many specialties, some including endocrinologist, cardiologist, occupational and respiratory therapists, neurologist and geneticist.
Since Greyson’s onset of symptoms, he has experienced five more episodes which have increased in severity and length of episode, these are still undiagnosed at this time.
We have now entered the “wait and see stage” which as a parent is debilitating.
My sister and brother in law have two other children, Hadley who is currently attending college in Arizona pursuing nursing and Bode a very active senior at Eisenhower. They are all so terrified. I would love to not have finances be a worry in addition to this.
I want my sister and brother in law to fully concentrate on Grey. Neither of them want to leave his side, however if they don’t go to work, they don’t get paid.
I know the holiday season is already so hard on most financially and to ask for help is extremely hard for our family. To know my family is to know we are very stubborn and hate asking for help but we are trying to find a way to help take away one less worry for my family.
Every donation no matter the size helps ease the burden on our family and will help lift a tremendous weight during this frightening and uncertain time.
I want my sister and her family to know they aren’t alone. Thank you in advance for the unwavering prayers and support. We will update everyone when we get any news.
