Please help bring Bea home - BEAStrong

I feel very blessed to be able to organize this fundraiser for a very special and remarkable person Beatrix Vollin who is also a wonderful wife, mom, grandma & friend. Her family is her life and she is theirs.

I met Bea years ago through her brother Manny, and although I didn’t know her well at the time, and we didn’t hang out together, she was always so kind and always had a beautiful smile on her face. Bea was born in Germany, and her family moved to Salinas, California when she was 2 yrs old and has been here ever since. She went to Madonna grammar school and graduated from North Salinas High. She met her husband Jerry Vollin at the fair in 1985 and was introduced to the rodeo life through him and his brothers. Bea was one of the best waitress’s in town working at Charlie’s, The Round Up and The Pub for many years. Bea was and still is a bright light in the lives of all that know & love her. It’s now our turn to give back and be that bright light she needs from all of us!

On Friday, May 19th Bea suffered a brain aneurysm and was taken to ER at a local hospital where her family was told the devastating news. They were told there was no hope for her, and that she would never leave the hospital. She would never be the same grandmother, mother, or wife, and it would be only a matter of days until she passed. As you can imagine her family was devasted and would not accept that news.

On Monday, May 22, a new ICU doctor came on shift and went to see Bea. He told her husband Jerry & daughter Cheyanne that he saw a glimmer of hope and reached out to their head neurologist for a consultation. He reached out to Stanford & UCSF for assistance with Bea's care, and by the grace of God was able to get her transferred (airlifted) to UCSF on Wednesday, May 24th.

Bea immediately underwent her first procedure to relieve the pressure on her brain which was followed by at least 3 more procedures to clean & repair the aneurysm. The doctors are very pleased with the results thus far and the fact that Bea has been making small progress towards recovery. However, they will not fully assess her progress & condition until the 21-day mark is reached from when her first procedure was done.

According to Jerry, Bea is one heck of a fighter! She is breathing on her own when her family was told she would not. She can communicate some by speaking a few words and through facial expressions.

Bea & Jerry just celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary and were enjoying this chapter of their lives and being doting grandparents to their beautiful granddaughter Jaxyn, and looking forward to having another granddaughter due July 4th. Jerry has spent all day, every day with Bea since her aneurysm.

Bea, Jerry & Cheyanne are so very fortunate to have such a great support system and the fact that so many people love them & are praying for them every day. They should not have to worry about or be burdened with the financial stress this undoubtedly will cause, not only medical bills but also the cost of fuel driving to and from Salinas to San Francisco daily, parking fees, meals, etc.

On behalf of the Vollin family I am asking that if you're able to help out in any way, it would be greatly appreciated. No amount is too small and every little bit helps. I also believe in the power of prayer and Lord knows Bea & her family need ALL the prayers you can send their way! Bea has a long road to recovery and needs all our love, support, positive vibes & prayers.
