Following months of experiencing nausea and difficulty eating, our dear friend Brian got a diagnosis that no one wants to hear: pancreatic cancer. Thankfully, after the initial shock of the diagnosis, some positive news started to come in. The cancer had not metastasized, and his doctors believe that, after he undergoes several months of chemotherapy and radiation, the tumor should be operable. He has a great medical team behind him. His preliminary treatment has already begun, with surgeries to treat his jaundice and to allow him to eat solid food again, but he has a difficult and expensive battle ahead. His doctors have said that, barring any complications, he will miss a minimum of nine months of work.
To know Brian is to love him. His wife, Amy, has been his rock throughout this process. They have three children, Ava, Ella and Liam, who are thrilled to have their dad back at home after his initial lengthy hospital stay. They are fortunate to have his parents, Jay and Donna, live close by and they have been able to regularly visit him and help with the kids as needed. And he is also a beloved older brother, uncle and dear friend to many. His friends would describe him as the most likable guy they know. He is kind, funny, generous and the type of person who lights up a room as soon as he enters it…everyone is happy when “Wams” shows up.
With his family now facing the toughest fight of their lives, we are hoping that his extended network will help support them in whatever way they can. Brian is tough and we are optimistic that he will win this battle…our goal is to take away some of the financial stress and make things as easy as possible for him and his family during this process, so Brian can focus on what matters most: getting well. Every bit helps, so thank you for any donation that you are able to give.
