Help Brian and Debbie Recover After Devastating Motorcycle Accident
Brian and Debbie Haynes faced a life-altering motorcycle accident in Orillia on July 26, 2025. A young driver crossed into their lane, causing a collision that led to Brian being airlifted to Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto. Debbie was also transported to Sunnybrook after an emergency assessment in Orillia. Both underwent 2 surgeries which tragically resulted in the amputation of both their left legs below their knees. Debbie also suffered a broken finger and lacerations, while Brian sustained lacerations and fractured ribs, neck, and back. Brian and Debbie have since been transferred to St John’s Rehabilitation facility to begin an estimated six weeks of physical and emotional healing. Despite their severe injuries and ongoing rehabilitation, they remain positive and grateful to be alive and together. Brian previously faced emergency back surgery and lengthy rehabilitation, while Debbie manages Multiple Sclerosis. They also endured the complete loss of their home to fire in 2021 and a lengthy rebuilding process. To say these two are resilient is an understatement.
Both are self-employed and will likely be unable to continue their physically demanding property management work for some time, if ever. They urgently need help with mounting expenses. Brian and Debbie are self-reliant, proud people who don’t ask for help. But currently, they really need it as they face unimaginable challenges ahead.
In Brian’s words: “We have simple joys in life. Riding the bike was one. We have helped many people but often forget about ourselves. Today, my concern is for my wife and kids. I know things will get better, and we will be able to get around one day with the use of one leg, but getting to that point will be a challenge.
I moved full-time to Muskoka 20 years ago and fell in love with this place and the people. Although I lost my job and couldn’t find work in my field, I adapted and went into property management with Debbie. We have worked, slept and been together pretty much every day since.
We took in a boy who needed help, even after our home burnt down. While we were rebuilding, we gave him the room in the trailer we were living in and moved into the garage. It was a challenge for us all, but we made it. Now we are facing another life-changing challenge.
We’ve decided to swallow our pride and take the help we need now. Your gift would mean the world to us.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.”
Any donation would help ease Brian and Debbie’s financial burden. Their focus is on recovery so they can move forward with their modest life rich with the love of family and friends. Every donation, no matter the amount, makes a difference. If you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing this page. We will endeavour to post updates as their healing journey progresses.
