Please help Bleu the husky puppy

Donation protected

I have a Siberian Husky puppy who is a little over 18 months old, his name is Bleu. He is my emotional support animal who has gotten me through some very tough times of my life. To anyone who has met Bleu, he is a very happy, playful and funny dog. To me he is a fluffy troublemaker that manages to always put a smile on my face.

Last Wednesday (December 16th), I got a phone call from his daycare that he had thrown up more than 10 times over the course of a few hours. The vomit discharge was mostly water and bile. He was hiding in the corner of the room and was very lethargic. I got him into an ER and an ultrasound was done, there was no obvious cause but a concern of mechanical obstruction inside him. He was given some fluids and sent home with a plan to return for a recheck ultrasound the next morning. That night Bleu continued to vomit even though he refused to eat or drink. I took him back for his recheck early Thursday morning and he was admitted to the hospital that day because his condition had worsened. The result of his recheck ultrasound showed most of his intestines dilated and inflamed. He was started on IVT and medications per the vet request. The vet did an abdominal CT scan on him to determine if he need immediate surgical needs. The CT did not indicate any obstruction in his GI tract. Bleu was recommended to stay overnight at the hospital for more medication and monitoring. I picked him up in the evening the next day when his condition had stabilized. The total vet bill for the emergency visit amounted to $5,325 (invoices attached).

Prior to this incident, Bleu has suffered from intermittent episodes of vomiting and diarrhea. Over the last few months, we have had frequent trips to his regular vet trying to figure out what was wrong with him. Throughout the year, Bleu has had multiple fecal exams and blood work. It was only in October that he had an ACTH test to determine if he had Addison disease. At this time, I do not know the underlying cause of his chronic vomiting. Based on his history the vet believed it to be some type of chronic GI disease (such as inflammatory bowel disease or food allergies) and more testing needs to be conducted for an accurate diagnosis.

I went back and forth on starting this GoFundMe because I feel like I have failed to prepare emergency funds for Bleu. I have looked into getting insurance before the ER incident, but he was already experiencing symptoms that are considered pre-existing which means that anything related to his GI tract would not be covered.

I am saddened by the thought that my dog has a chronic health issue. I panicked whenever I think he’s going to die and I am frightened of a relapse. With everything that had happened in 2020, the thought that scared me the most this year was not having him to spend Christmas with. This Christmas I am blessed to have him with me. I am fortunate that he is recovering, smiling and eating a little more every day.

I would like to raise $1,500 to help with part of his ER bill as he recovers. I understand that 2020 has been challenging for everyone but if you are able to spare a few bucks for my dog, thank you so much for helping.
