We are creating this go fund me to help our roomate with his dog's surgery coming up at the end of the month. For those who don't know us, Vee and I moved in with Chris over 3 years ago in April 2020. We genuinely became like family. Chris got 2 months old Billie in September 2020 and this is when our sister dog came into our life. ( Vee and I call her Sissi dog ). Even though Billie is not our dog, we've treated her like if she was ours since day one. She he the most amazing sister dog/roomate we could've ever possibly have. She loves to run in the snow, she loves to nap in her Sissi's bed, she loooooves the belly rubs, chasing birds, swimming, and her very favorite thing in the world is her ball. Billie is obsessed with her ball. She will stare at it, run to catch it, and also she loves to push them under the couches and beds to then beg us to go find them. When we"re out for a walk, if she finds a dirty old forgotten ball, she will instantly drop her nice, clean chuck it rubber ball, leave it there and grab the dirty one. But dirty balls are better right? She has such a funny personality and she loves everyone.
A few months ago, she started limping and we could notice that she was avoiding walking on her left leg. It kind of got better with time and thought she had just played too hard or something but then it came back and got worse. The vet told Chris to keep her on leash for 2 weeks. She didn’t get much better during this time and Chris decided to book another vet appointment. 3 days before meeting with him, Billie collapsed to the ground on a walk. Then when she was able to get up she wouldn’t put any weight on her right leg. The next visit to the Vet confirmed she had torn the cruciate ligament in her left and right knee. That means we now need to operate on both knees and follow up with medical treatments for her knees and a full rehab program. Dr. Lane was re-assuring saying that Billie-Jean is a young and healthy girl and it was still possible for her to recover quick and pain free for years following with a long and happy life!
The biggest challenge, besides the back to back surgeries, would now be paying for it all. The total cost is estimated at more than $17,000. A lot of money, but with reassurance that Billie Jean will be back to normal by the fall and will be able to run and play again. Chris can’t say no to the opportunity to have his best friend with him for another 8-10 years.
He does have insurance and it will cover about 25% of the cost.
Billie is Chris's everything and will do anything for her. The funds raised will be used to reduce the +-$13000k total cost that Chris's will have to pay from his own pocket.
If we all team up as friends, family and community to even give a simple $5-10, it will make a difference big at the end. We love Chris like a brother, and Billie like a sister. Please, help us help them!
