Please Help Bill Vose after major car accident
Donation protected
Hello all!
Now that the dust has somewhat settled, and we have an idea of what we are looking at we thought as a family it was time to officially reach out and update everyone.
On February 11, 2023, my grandpa “Bill Vose” was involved in a major car accident in Lancaster, CA. On his way home while turning into his housing complex, he was rear-ended by someone who failed to stop at a stop sign and was hit at over 50 mph. The accident has completely devested us as a family and has left my grandparents in a situation they never thought they would be in. My Grandpa Bill is currently in a transitional care facility with 3 broken ribs, 2 vertical and horizontal breaks on both his T9 and T10, will be in this transitional care facility for a minimum of 6/7 weeks, and is completely bedridden. On top of this, their only vehicle was completely totaled in the accident leaving my grandmother without a vehicle to travel back and forth to see my grandpa and care for their household (grocery shopping, doctor's appointments, etc.). They are currently waiting for insurance to issue the check for totaling out their vehicle, but even that money will not cover the full cost of another vehicle.
For those of you who know my grandparents, especially my Grandpa Bill, you know that they are always the first to help and be there for everyone. From always lending a hand to fellow racers in need, to being there for so many during their hard times, no questions asked. Right now, and for the first time, we are asking our village for help. Over the weekend my mom “Lori” went to visit my Grandparents and compiled a list of things my grandparents need help with. At this time, we are unsure what my grandpa's future looks like as far as his mobility. However, we know without a doubt he will have to use mobility aids (wheelchair/walker). Because of this, we need to prepare their single-wide manufactured home to be more accommodating to their new reality once he returns home. Alongside getting the house fit for mobility aid access, multiple home repairs need IMMEDIATE attention before it starts getting hot outside, and a few things they are personally requesting. The following are the things they are needing help with (*** = EXTREMELY IMPORTANT TO GET DONE)
- Wheelchair/ Ramp access needs to be constructed and built ***
- Master Bathroom floor is sinking in and is not operable ***
- Master Bathroom remodel for better mobility access ***
- Needs new AC unit/Swamp Cooler (NO WORKING AC CURRENTLY) ***
- Guest Bathroom needs toilet replacement
- The ceiling Fan needs to be looked at/ possibly replaced
- Kitchen Cabinets need to be looked at/ repaired
- Electrical needs to be looked at for various plugs/switches
- Recliner chairs need to be replaced
We know that times are tough for everyone with the current economy and know it might be hard for people to donate monetarily. We are asking for help NO MATTER WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE. Whether you live in California and can donate your time and handyman skills for things needing to be done around their house, can recommend good quality companies for any of the listed repairs, want to drop off a freshly cooked meal to my grandpa/grandma, want to send my grandparents some happy mail, visit/call my grandpa at the care facility, or even just simply sharing this we appreciate all of the help we can get.
All money being donated via gofundme, pay pal or cash donation will directly go towards my grandparents and the supplies/services needed to complete their home repairs/ items they need. We will be posting updates as we have them. Please keep my Grandpa Bill in your thoughts! If you'd like information on how you can get mail to him or call him to shoot the shit at the care facility, please reach out to me.
We can’t thank our village enough for coming together to help us navigate through all this!
