Bears Emergency vet bill

Donation protected
Hello my Name is Matt, when I met my amazing wife Jordan . She had already met her soulmate…. Bear. She rescued Bear at an early age but he’d already seen a rough life on the streets. Timid around people forevermore, yet by her side and loyal to her at every moment . Their bond was not one I could infringe on , but one I had to admire from the outside . Bear and I grew closer over the years and he befriended my dog as well . Our family started to grow. Unable to have children…. All of our love and affection we could ever give to a child, we instead gave to our boys . Bear is the eldest. The protector of all, but never far from his mothers side. We started noticing bear seemed to be in pain . Bear being the strong silent type ,it’s even harder to tell when he’s in pain . My wife having an unearthly soulful connection to him new something was amiss in the last two months . He had been spry and playing with the younger dogs of our home not long ago but suddenly his head would hang low and he would whine . He would have trouble walking on hard floors . My wife took him to the vet several times assuring them something was going on, they assured us he was fine that he may have some back pain from getting a little older but nothing to worry about . Bear is around 9-10 but we don’t know for certain since he was a rescue and his age was an estimate. With his breed life expectancy is longer than that .However, not long ago he would run and play and chase . This was something moving too quickly to be nothing. At 7am yesterday morning my wife called me “ you need to come home right now. Bear is paralyzed in his back legs. He’s trying to drag himself and he’s crying !” I raced home. She had taken him to the vet. It was bad. The CT scan showed he would need an emergency surgery immediately if he was to ever walk again or we would have to put him down . Allowing him to come home and live in agonizing pain was not an option for us and we felt he was still too young for his breed to be put down. After all bear is a fighter . As is his mother and I . We did not hesitate. There was an opening that day for the surgery. The next few hours was a rollercoaster of emotions and doubts and fears and confusion. My wife knew in her heart that she had to fight for his life in anyway she could, she signed off on the procedure. After hours of torture the doctors informed us that the surgery was a success but he only had a 50/50 shot of every walking again . Bear is the strongest dog I’ve ever known . We both went to bed thinking he’ll be dancing in the morning . When we didn’t receive the call in the window of time given we became nervous. Then the call came …. “ there’s been a complication “ bear wasn’t removing the gasses in his stomach naturally. He wasn’t dancing , he was in serious trouble . For the last few hours my wife and I have been in torment thinking the worse . The next call should have come between 4 and 6 but it didn’t . It came roughly at 3:30pm . The Dr. told my wife she couldn’t believe it … not only was bear removing the gasses on his own but he was trying to walk ! He could move his back legs again . The 50/50 just went up in bears favor. He has a long road ahead of him and isn’t quite out of the woods but we fought for him because we know he’s a fighter and as a member of our family deserves to live . The first visit yesterday morning was $2,000 ….. the emergency surgery $10,000. The emergency visit leading up to this point approximately $1,000 . Every day bear is in recovery and has to stay at the hospital is roughly $1,000. We hope everything will go well tonight and he’ll be ready to come home to his family and live out the rest of his life pain free and walking . But we aren’t there yet and we need help . With the pandemic we’ve all been through so much . I’m asking that if you are able and willing to help us with bears bills that we hope saved his life and save my wife from agony . I know this is so much money for a pet . This is an unprecedented situation that we were not ready for and we need the help of any and every individual that can donate in anyway . We believe more bills and therapy will be needed and all the proceeds will go to bears bills and recovery and anything else health related to his future.I joined Facebook again for the first time in years to help bear . If you cannot afford to help for any reason please please please share bears story so we can continue to help our son heal from this tremendously dangerous surgery . This is unfortunately just the beginning of the long road ahead of him and our family needs all the help we can get . Share this story with your friends and family and help if you can . Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and I hope that together we can all help my wife and her best friend and soulmate have as much time together as they deserve. Thank you everyone.
